I miss the J. Grisham of old. So many of his newer books read like he had a deadline to meet for a publisher. This one is the same. Boring, not much character development, a step-by-step narration: “and then we did this. And then this happened. And then we reacted like this. So then they did that.” I’m done.

My favorite so far

I’ve just recently discovered John Grisham so this is probably my 10th book of his and it’s easily been my favorite thus far. You really don’t know what’s coming or how it’s going to end and that’s the best part. I also love how he finishes his stories with the same energy he starts them, instead of just wrapping it up in a couple of pages and leaving tons of unanswered questions like a lot of writers tend to do.

No courtroom drama and certainly not a typical Grisham tale. So many twists and turns that it took a while to realize I was reading a complex sting.

3.5 stars Malcolm is very smart. I really liked how he worked everything out. I did figure a lot of what was happening out ahead of time and feel that some of the people he tricked should have been a little quicker on the uptake. Definitely entertaining.

This is by far one of John Grisham's best books written. It is a great self-proclaimed total work of fiction genius. About the only thing that's true in this book are the names of the cities and towns. If you hate the federal government's judicial system, you'll love the main character in this book and what they do. If only we all could dupe the FBI. I could not put the book down.

No kidding. I loved this story to death. A guy screwed by the government gets unbelievable revenge. The plot is great. You keep wondering where it is going, and that creates suspense. It is also a very creative story, with a fun outcome. Worth your time and money. A very enjoyable read. A true masterpiece by Grisham

I'm an avid fan of John Grisham, but I decided to read the reviews on The Racketeer before purchasing it. I was disappointed to hear the negative comments, but decided to read it anyway. It's true that's it's a bit slow at times, but developing the story line was essential and the times I found it wandering were because I didn't understand where it was going. The twists and surprises come at just the right time to make it a compelling read. It's not my favorite of John Grisham, but still worth the time to be entertained!

It has been a long time since I have had the pleasure of reading such a unique "page turner" of a book. This book was beyond hard to put down. I loved all the twists and turns in the plot and I especially enjoyed the unyielding suspense. You had me fooled for quite a while, great job Mr Grisham.

I don't read a lot of fiction, as a matter of fact, this is my first venture into fiction novels. I like his movies, so I thought I would give Mr. Grisham first shot. The book is a great story, some decent drama and a small twist. Just plain old good storytelling though. Enjoy! I did.

It is also a very creative story, with a fun outcome. Worth your time and money. A very enjoyable read. A true masterpiece by Grisham

I'm an avid fan of John Grisham, but I decided to read the reviews on The Racketeer before purchasing it. I was disappointed to hear the negative comments, but decided to read it anyway. It's true that's it's a bit slow at times, but developing the story line was essential and the times I found it wandering were because I didn't understand where it was going. The twists and surprises come at just the right time to make it a compelling read. It's not my favorite of John Grisham, but still worth the time to be entertained!

The ending was weak. I expected a surprise, but was given nothing. Not even a "what if.". The writing was excellent, as always, even if the story line left me in the dark sometimes. Still, I admire John's writing skills... Way outta my league!

It has been a long time since I have had the pleasure of reading such a unique "page turner" of a book. This book was beyond hard to put down. I loved all the twists and turns in the plot and I especially enjoyed the unyielding suspense. You had me fooled for quite a while, great job Mr Grisham.

I don't read a lot of fiction, as a matter of fact, this is my first venture into fiction novels. I like his movies, so I thought I would give Mr. Grisham first shot. The book is a great story, some decent drama and a small twist. Just plain old good storytelling though. Enjoy! I did.

Disappointing

I miss the J. Grisham of old. So many of his newer books read like he had a deadline to meet for a publisher. This one is the same. Boring, not much character development, a step-by-step narration: “and then we did this. And then this happened. And then we reacted like this. So then they did that.” I’m done.

My favorite so far

I’ve just recently discovered John Grisham so this is probably my 10th book of his and it’s easily been my favorite thus far. You really don’t know what’s coming or how it’s going to end and that’s the best part. I also love how he finishes his stories with the same energy he starts them, instead of just wrapping it up in a couple of pages and leaving tons of unanswered questions like a lot of writers tend to do.

3.5 stars Malcolm is very smart. I really liked how he worked everything out. I did figure a lot of what was happening out ahead of time and feel that some of the people he tricked should have been a little quicker on the uptake. Definitely entertaining.

This is by far one of John Grisham's best books written. It is a great self-proclaimed total work of fiction genius. About the only thing that's true in this book are the names of the cities and towns. If you hate the federal government's judicial system, you'll love the main character in this book and what they do. If only we all could dupe the FBI. I could not put the book down.
